So that time is once again upon us. Tomorrow the 2008 Electronics Entertainment Expo opens and we all know what that means… Announcements. Since it’s still early, I think it would be a good time to outline what I expect to be announced this year. Time will tell if I’m wrong, but fun will be had by all.

This has to be a day that many people have been looking forward to. No matter if you’re a gamer or not, you’ve more than likely heard of the obtuse “lawyer” named Jack Thompson. Well, the huge anti-gaming attorney has finally received his comeuppance.

Judge Dava Tunis found Thompson guilty of 27 out of 31 charges that were filed against him from a Devin Moore case, when he tried to declare Bully a public nuisance and 2 other video games including the following charges:

  • Using means that have no purpose other than to embarrass, delay or burden a third person
  • Engaging in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation
  • Making statements that the lawyer knows to be false or with reckless disregard as to the truth or falsity concerning the qualifications or integrity of a judge.

A disciplinary hearing will be held on June 4 while the full report to the Florida Supreme Court is due September 2.

Personally, finding out this news has made me incredibly happy. My only hope is that it goes far enough to get him disbarred. Nothing would be finer…

And I see we’re not alone in doing so… I wonder how far he is or if he’s hit up the strip clubs. I’ll bet he’s too busy finding stones to cast to really get into it.

Anyone else think this is a dumb idea? I mean seriously the only cool thing about Mortal Kombat was the fatalities… It’s like going to see a Troma movie for the great production quality.

If you used a service like this, would you be more inclined to use the social aspects of these sites?

spore-logo-1024.jpgThe most anticipated game of all time finally has a release date… Someone hold me… The game will see a September 7th release date and will be available on PC/Mac as well as a dumbed down version for the DS and Cellphones. Earlier still there will be a Creature editor released without the full functionality of the game where you can create new creatures and import them into the game once it is released. Judging from the slew of new images coming out of EA, this game is likely going to live up to the hype, which is a major accomplishment indeed. There’s a huge gallery of around 80 high resolution images of the current form of Spore available at Joystiq
