Since I’ve started playing around in WoW again… *sigh* I figured I should try out this little tip I heard about a while back. Do you have a mid to high-end PC? Are you getting tired of WoW’s aging graphics engine? Well have I the tip for you… Read the rest of this entry »
As much as I hate to hear about these supposed studies about video game addiction, you do have to give a little validity to what is said. There ARE people who spend hours upon hours playing video games when they should be doing something else. There ARE people who neglect loved-ones in their lives in order to boot up the computer or turn on the console. I am not arguing that. However, after reading the MSNBC article on what makes video games addictive, I have to (once again) throw in my two cents… and I will do it quickly.
Yes, I know this isn’t gaming news or a new review although I love NIN and thought it would be nice to give everyone that frequents the site a peek at his new song “Discipline”.
If you’d like a copy of the song for your mp3 player or computer, the official download site is available here. Just enter a valid email address and your zip code. I don’t want to hear any complaining about having to exert a minimal effort to get it… it’s free.
Leading into this review I’d just like to tell a little story and mention I think Sony was re-tar-ded for not shipping the PS3 with a Dual Shock controller. That said I decided to walk over (it was a nice day and a Gamestop is 5 minutes away from home) to go pick one up as well as a Memory Card adapter so that I could get my PS1 and PS2 game saves onto my PS3. Does Sony really think that $55 is a fair price for a controller? Oh well, I guess they figure that we have to pay for their stupidity regarding patent laws. Anyways, I digress… While getting these, I felt like getting a game as well. I originally left thinking I’d pick up Okami for the Wii, although my Wii library is moderately filled, my PS3 library however is rather lacking. So I picked up Uncharted in the end. I walked over to the counter and got harassed with the typical Gamestop mantra and it went something like this:
28 year-old Virgin: “Did you want to pre-order anything today? We have a few more beta codes for Metal Gear Online if you wanted to pre-order MGS4. It’s starting up Today.”
Me: “No, thank you. I actually heard that got shut down.”
28 year-old Virgin: “Really? Are you sure? I didn’t hear that.”
Me: “Yeah, I work nights and get news updates. Apparently they’re delaying it a week because of a lack of server capacity, so I wouldn’t be pushing that one to people for another week.”
I love schooling Gamestop employees… Anyways, I got the game home, fired it up with my new Dual Shock 3 and had at it. I’ll tell you right now there are some very welcome surprises this game brings to the table. Here’s my review so far…
Anyone else think this is a dumb idea? I mean seriously the only cool thing about Mortal Kombat was the fatalities… It’s like going to see a Troma movie for the great production quality.
